Responsible for the overall program of parks, playgrounds and recreational activities, the Commission performs its duties as an advisory body to the City Council and Community Services & Parks Department, recommending courses of action that insure continuation of Glendale's high caliber parks and recreational programs.

Each member of the parks, recreation and community services commission shall be a qualified elector of the city at the time of appointment and during incumbency. Elected officials may not serve on the commission. Active commissioners are not allowed to serve on more than one board/commission/committee (as defined in Title 2 of the Glendale Municipal Code) at the same time.
The Community Services & Parks Department provides administrative services for the Commission. The Director of Community Services & Parks can provide further information regarding Commission issues.
