The “valley girl” is a cinematic idea. This character represents only a small minority of women. The truth of women in the valley is extreme diversity colored by the world’s creative capital. Representing this richness is our objective.

Valley Girl Redefined is an expansive group exhibition that dares to rethink what it means to be a Valley Girl. Through the lens of contemporary female artists connected to the San Fernando Valley, the exhibition examines the ever evolving role that the Valley has played in the global identity of womanhood. From the trailblazers whose art shaped the visual landscape of the Valley, to the artists whose practice has been shaped by the landscape, history and culture of the 818, Valley Girl celebrates the indomitable Women of the Valley.
