Drivin' Mama Crazy

DrivinMamaCrazy 28June2019

Drivin' Mama Crazy is a mixture of bluegrass, country and rock. The band members have performed together since 1983. Brothers John and Evan Marshall invited Arshag Chookoorian to become a member of their band Smokewood. A short time later, banjo player, Andy Rau was asked to join the band for a tour of county and state fairs throughout the western United States. That was the beginning of professional collaborations and personal friendships that have lasted over 30 years.

The group became well known in Southern California, performing at virtually every prestigious venue, including Knott’s Berry Farm, Universal Studios Tour, Six Flags Magic Mountain and at the Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. In the early 1990s, the members of the band were contracted to be an in-house show group and began a 20-year engagement at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. During these years the group also traveled throughout the United States performing pops concerts with symphony orchestras in Jacksonville, Grand Rapids, San Antonio, Pensacola, Houston, Phoenix, to name a few. Most recently the group adopted the name Drivin’ Mama Crazy and performed throughout the 2011-2016 summer seasons at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
