      Project Description

The Pavement Preservation Project is a collaborative partnership between the City of Glendale and Los Angeles County Public Works. This project, which focuses on neighborhood streets and not larger arterial roads, will improve pavement infrastructure, help extend the lifespan of a road's surface and enhance safety for drivers.  Preserving roads before they fail saves taxpayer money over the life of the roadway.

      Scope of Work

      • The proposed work includes micro-milling to improve road ride-ability; scrub seal to seal cracks; and slurry seal to preserve the pavement and provide a smoother, more finished driving surface. The preservation is estimated to extend the pavement life for an additional 6 to 8 years. To better care for the environment, all aggregates (tiny rocks) originate from recycled pavement.
      • Proposed Treatment: Micro-mill the existing pavement full width. Apply a scrub seal using 5/16-in reclaimed asphalt pavement over the micro-milled pavement. Scrub seal shall be applied 6 inches away from the edge of gutter on both sides. Apply a polymer modified emulsion – reclaimed asphalt pavement (PME-RAP) slurry seal after the scrub seal.

      Construction Schedule

Construction is tentatively scheduled from August  2022 – to September 2022 barring any unforeseen circumstances.

      Traffic Impacts

Temporary “NO PARKING” signs will be posted at least 48 hours prior to the start of work. Door hangers will also be distributed during the three phases of construction at the same time.

During construction, traffic may be restricted or intermittently closed Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Access to homes will be maintained except for periods of time when it is impractical to do so. Any road closures will end by the end of the work day to restore vehicular access. For your safety and the successful completion of the project, please observe all traffic controls, detour routing, parking restrictions, and work zone crews/flaggers. Plan your route accordingly. Exercise caution while in the vicinity of construction activities. Slow down and drive safe.
