The Glendale Youth Orchestra under the direction of Music Director & Conductor Henry Shin will be performing a concert entitled “An American in Paris,” featuring works inspired by the theatre, ballet and opera. Works will include Mozart: “Magic Flute Overture”; Prokofiev: “Romeo & Juliet”; Mascagni: Intermezzo from Cavaliera Rusticana & Gershwin: “An American In Paris”.
Alongside these works, the Glendale Youth Orchestra will also be featuring two of their recent winners of the annual concerto competition. Madeline Son (La Canada), violin will be performing Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole which helped make Spanish themes in music popular. Associate Concertmaster Valerie Chen (Valencia) will be performing the most popular violin concerto of the Romantic era, Violin Concerto No. 2 by Wieniawski.
