Throughout the year, volunteer members of Glendale Beautiful, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to keeping our city beautiful and preserving our early California history, host an open house at the historic Casa Abode de San Rafael from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the 1st Sunday of each month. Information describing Casa Adobe in Armenian, English, and Spanish is available, and docents can answer questions and share other historical background during the open house.
The historic casa was built for Tomas and Maria Sanchez from adobe bricks made on site. The home was completed in 1871 and is furnished in late 19th-century style. Casa Adobe is registered as California Landmark #235, and is included in the Glendale Register of Historic Resources #3. More information about Casa Adobe de San Rafael is available on the CSP department website.
