The Fire Prevention Bureau (FPB) is dedicated to increasing safety, preventing or reducing fire losses, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and ordinances. Personnel staff the Fire Prevention Bureau, and the Fire Engineering Unit which is located in the city's Permit Services Center.
The goal of the Fire Prevention Bureau is to safeguard the community from fire and environmental hazards through programs providing for adherence to fire regulations, public education, and hazard mitigation. Conducting regular fire, life safety and environmental inspections.
NEW! Glendale City Council Adopts Plan to Increase Inspection Fees
On June 25th, the City Council adopted a comprehensive update to several Fire Prevention Bureau’s (FPB) service fees, effective July 2024. The new fees more accurately reflect current trends and the associated staffing costs necessary to maintain vital city services.
The revised schedule is anticipated to increase our rate of cost recovery to 67% by adjusting the fees.
A few key Fire Service Fee Increases:
• Vegetation Management Program (VMP) fee increased from $15 to $42 annually.
• The Residential Inspection Fee increased from $36 to $84.
Throughout the fee update process, FPB’s goal was to utilize a balanced approach that meets the needs of the City’s residents while more accurately reflecting current industry trends.
