Effective January 9, 2023, GWP will resume electric and water disconnections. As of December 1, 2022, late charges to delinquent customer accounts have resumed.
Throughout the emergency phase of the pandemic, GWP has made every effort to assist customers who have experienced financial difficulties paying their utility bills by:
- Suspending late payment penalties from March 2020 to November 30, 2022.
- Stopped electric and water disconnections for nonpayment from March 2020 through November 30, 2022.
- Utilized grant funds that were awarded by the state – such as the California Arrearage Payment Program (CAPP), and California Water and Wastewater Arrearage Payment Program (CWWAPP) to provide over $8,000,000.00 in credits to delinquent accounts.
- Applied funds granted to customers from the California COVID-19 Rent Relief Program and other State funded programs and organizations that offered bill assistance.
- Qualifying customers will continue to be granted payment arrangements and low income programs offered through GWP. Please visit our website at www.glendalewaterandpower.com for more information.
The Payment/Shut-off timeline information is provided below:
GWP bills customers on a monthly or bi-monthly schedule. Customers have 19 days from the billing date to pay their electric and/or water bill. If payment is not received, GWP will issue a Friendly Reminder Notice 3 days thereafter (22 days from the billing date). If payment is still not received, GWP will issue a Final Notice and at that time assess a late fee on any outstanding balance on the 38th day from the billing date. If payment is not received by the Due Date of the Final Notice (44th day), the service will be subject for disconnection. Disconnection of service requires disconnection and reconnection fees and a deposit.
