Home MenuGWP's Turf Replacement Program
Replacing turf with water-efficient plants is cost-effective, beautiful, and low-maintenance. Glendale homeowners and businesses are encouraged to participate in GWP's Turf Replacement Program to prepare their landscapes for Southern California summers! Did you know? Native plants survive drought with 20 gallons of water per month. While keeping a lawn green in the summer can take as much as 4,000 gallons of water per month per yard!
Through GWP's Turf Replacement Program, homeowners are eligible to receive $3 per square foot rebate for replacing turf with drought tolerant and native plants, retrofitting to a drip/efficient irrigation system, and capturing rainwater. Please note, synthetic turf is not an approved conversion option for this program.
Before you begin your project or remove any turf, you must apply for and receive a reservation.
GWP's Turf Replacement program is a two-part application process. In order to receive a rebate, you must apply to reserve rebate funds prior to starting your project. After the reservation, you will have 180 days to complete the project and submit your request for a rebate. The reservation will specify the estimated rebate amount based on the measured area and information provided.
Note: It is important that you measure your project area(s) accurately. Once your project start has been approved, your rebate amount cannot be increased from the amount reserved.
All applications must be submitted online through the SoCal Water$mart website.
