Resource sharing
Glendale Library, Arts & Culture provides patrons with the ability to borrow materials from other library systems if those materials are not available at any of our branches. All you need is a current Glendale Library, Arts & Culture library card.
We have 2 ways of borrowing these materials: LINK+, which is integrated into our catalog so you can place and manage your own requests, gives you access to over 70 public and academic libraries in California and Nevada. This is often the quicker method since LINK+ member libraries work together to fulfill requests in a timely manner. But if materials cannot be borrowed through LINK+, you can request an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) which allows you to borrow materials from libraries in the contiguous U.S. However, please be prepared for a process that may take several weeks or longer, particularly during the winter holiday season. Restrictions, as listed below, may also apply.
Restrictions
There is a limit of three (3) ILL requests per any 7-day period. Requests cannot be placed on materials that are available at Glendale libraries. This can be verified by checking our catalog.
Electronic materials such as e-books cannot be obtained through interlibrary loan.
Items published less than one year before the request date cannot be ordered using ILL. Please instead consider requesting that the item be purchased by the library.
Fee
If the lending library charges a fee for borrowing an item, we will have to pass these costs on to you. You will be notified if an item will cost money to borrow and you can either accept or decline the order at that point.
You will receive a notification when your ILL request has been filled. We will make several attempts to locate your requested material. If unsuccessful, you will be notified by phone or email. We encourage you to check availability through LINK+ first since turnaround time is often quicker than ILL.
ILL materials have a four (4) week loan period. Renewals are not allowed under any condition.
Please complete the ILL form below or visit a Library, Arts & Culture location.
