Jail block and jailer

The Glendale City Jail is a 32,000 square foot, state-of-the-art, fully-automated, podular, certified Type I jail facility that opened on January 26, 2005.

The jail, comprised of 48 cells and 96 beds, is the third busiest municipal jail in the county of Los Angeles. Approximately 500-700 persons are booked into the jail each month. Each double occupancy cell has a standard state-regulated 10' x 8' configuration and includes a toilet, washbasin and water fountain. The jail provides a shower in the facility's day room area.

The Glendale City Jail contracts with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Food Services Unit. Inmates receive two cold meals per day and one hot meal. A variety of meals are served that vary from corn flake cereal to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, meatloaf, turkey sandwiches, and spaghetti dinners.

The jail is staffed by fully-trained custody officers, who attend either the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Custody Assistant Academy, Riverside County Sheriff's Correctional Academy or the Orange County Sheriff's Correctional Academy.

To contact jail staff, call 818-548-3124. The service agreement with the US Department of Homeland Security ICE can be found as a PDF here: Service Agreement with ICE.
