Home MenuNew Carts
To comply with California’s new trash and recycling cart color and labeling requirements, Public Works will be replacing all residential carts in two phases over the next two years.
This year, we are replacing carts on our Thursday and Friday routes.
We will send a postcard to inform residents that cart replacements are coming soon, starting November 2024. However, the deployment will most likely take place sometime between November 2024 and February 2025.
NEW CURBSIDE COLLECTION CARTS COMING SOON
Homes serviced by Public Works Thursdays and Fridays will have their collection carts replaced between November 2024 and February 2025. New carts will be delivered with instructions as to what to do with the old carts.
What Should You Do With Your Carts?
OLD CARTS:
- Set out ALL your old carts on your NEXT service day, EMPTY or FULL
- DO NOT REFILL your carts after they’ve been emptied!
- Notify everyone using the carts (ie. Landscapers) to not use after these are emptied.
- Leave all carts out at the curb until removed
- If carts are NOT empty, they will NOT be removed!
- Old carts will NO LONGER be serviced after the cart exchange
NEW CARTS
- Your new carts will be delivered shortly after the old carts are removed
- Begin using your new carts ON your next service day
You will receive an organics recycling pail with your new cart to help collect food scraps and other household organics.
