Scope of Work

This project involves the upsizing of sanitary sewer and pavement resurfacing and slurry sealing in the Southern portion of the City bounded by San Fernando Road, Brand Boulevard, Tyburn Street and southern City Boundary (SCRRA/MTA Railroad Right-a-Way). The project also includes the upsizing of sanitary sewer on Central Avenue between Gardena Avenue and San Fernando Road.

• Removal and replacement of the existing approximately 1,920 linear feet of the substandard sanitary sewer pipes with larger pipes in the same location in Gardena Ave and Tyburn St;
• Installation of approximately 1,090 linear feet of new pipes from San Fernado Rd and Mira Loma Ave, South to Brand Blvd, South to Vassar St, East to Topock St, and South to Gardena Ave;
• Selective Removal and replacement of damaged street pavements and concrete improvements (curb and gutters, driveway approaches, and sidewalks);
• Reconstruction of substandard curb ramps to comply with the federal requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act
• Pavement grinding and placement of rubberized pavement over asphalt concrete leveling course pavement;
• Placement of Type II Slurry Seal application;
• Median realignment at the intersection of San Fernando Rd and Brand Blvd.;
• Tree planting on Brand Blvd median South of San Fernando Rd and;
• Installation of pavement striping and other pavement markings.

Construction Work Schedule

 Present-August

• Installation of a traffic signal pole at San Fernando Road and Brand Boulevard
• Traffic signal modification
• Installation of left turn lane at Verdugo Road and Ocean View Boulevard
• 8/29-8/30: Construction of speed humps on Elk Avenue and Acacia Avenue
