          Slurry Seal

• Selective removal and replacement of Portland cement concrete pavement;
• Selective removal/reconstruction/surface plane of deteriorated pavement and placement of asphalt concrete pavement;
• Asphalt concrete skin patching of deteriorated asphalt concrete pavement;
• Application of crack sealing material;
• Application of emulsion aggregate slurry (Slurry Seal Type II) or application of emulsion aggregate slurry over the asphalt rubber aggregate membrane (ARAM);
• Selective removal and repair of broken and damaged sidewalk; curb; curb and gutter; cross gutter, and alley apron;
• Construction of new curb ramps;
• Pruning of tree roots;
• Adjustment of existing manholes and water meters to finished grade; and,
• Removal and replacement of existing traffic striping and pavement marking.

Sparr Boulevard Improvements

• In addition, the intersections of Montecito Drive, Menlo Drive, Bagdad Place, El Arbolita Drive, Harmon Place, and Vickers Drive with Sparr Boulevard will be modified to enhance safety and accessibility for pedestrian by improving vehicular traffic sight distance, shortening the pedestrians crossing distance, and installing ADA accessible curb ramps.

Community Meeting

Meeting: Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 6:00 p.m.

Location: Sparr Heights Community Center, 1613 Glencoe Way, Glendale, CA 91208

Subject: A community meeting was held at Sparr Heights Community Center on February 19, 2014 related to the forthcoming slurry seal and pavement repair project slated for the area. A notification had been distributed three weeks prior inviting area residents to participate in the informational meeting.  Attendees learned about the slurry seal program and pavement repair scope of work and other aspects of the construction work. The Project Manager and other staff members responded to concerns about tree removals, project phasing, retention warranties, as well as street/driveway ingress and egress. Staff reminded residents the need to observe no parking signage directives during the slurry sealing. Their cooperation will influence the success of the curing process along with favorable summer weather conditions.  In addition, the Project Management team stressed that the project was in the design phase; Division engineers will conduct site visits, at the behest of residents, to further evaluate project specifications  discussed at the meeting.
