Project Description: Re-pavement of alleys in western and southern Glendale neighborhoods, replacing the current pavement surface with permeable pavement.

Scope of Work

The scope of work includes the removal of existing deteriorated asphalt concrete pavement and replacement with a permeable concrete gutter and new asphalt concrete pavement. This will provide a new service life for the alley segment and incorporate stormwater infiltration improvements to capture and treat stormwater runoff and replenish the underground aquifers.

Current Phase

The Project was presented to the City Council on September 19, 2023.

  1. Alley No. 1 between Wilson Avenue and Harvard Street
  2. Alley No. 4 and 5 between Broadway and Chevy Chase Drive
  3. Alley No. 9 from Lomita Avenue to the southerly terminus
  4. Alley No. 10 from Adams Street to the westerly terminus
  5. Alley No. 25 between Justin Avenue and Ruberta Avenue
  6. Alley No. 37 between Rosedale Avenue and Newby Street
  7. Alley No. 39 between Sonora Avenue and Grover Avenue
  8. Alley No. 48 between Gardena Avenue and Railroad Street
  9. Alley No. 49 between Central Avenue and El Bonito Avenue
  10. Alley No. 57 from Alma Street to Highland Avenue
  11. Alley No. 62 and 66 from Harvard Street to the southerly terminus
  12. Alley No. 64 from Norton Avenue to Alma Street
  13. Alley No. 65 from Isabel Street to the easterly terminus
  14. Alley No. 69 from Harvard Street to the northerly terminus

Additional stormwater infiltration infrastructure in the form of drywells will be installed at the following locations adjacent to the alleys to capture any stormwater not captured though the use of Permeable pavement.

  5. 212 S. Everett Street
  6. 412 N. Kenilworth Avenue
  7. 506 N. Kenilworth Avenue
  8. 544 W. Lexington Drive
  9. 545 W. Lexington Avenue
  10. 601 Milford Street
  11. 725 Orange Grove Avenue

Construction Updates

The construction of the following alleys are complete:

  1. Alley No. 37 between Rosedale Avenue and Newby Street
  2. Alley No. 39 between Sonora Avenue and Grover Avenue
  3. Alley No. 295 between Cleveland Road to Norton Avenue

February 2024 - Contractor will start working on Alley 25, 57. 64 and 257

Construction Schedule
