The City of Glendale's Glendale Municipal Code (GMC) requires minimum standards be maintained related to the health, safety and welfare of community residents. Some of the primary objectives of the City of Glendale’s code compliance program are:
- To educate property owners on their responsibilities to maintain their property in habitable condition
- To bring substandard housing into compliance with City codes
- To eliminate blight in Glendale’s neighborhoods
- To preserve the high quality of life in the City
To meet these objectives, potential code violations are identified on a reactive basis. Inspections are performed utilizing verbal and written warnings, letter notifications, citations, office conferences, legal action, and abatement. Certified Code Compliance Inspectors regularly visit Glendale’s commercial and residential neighborhoods to investigate violations such as:
- Junk, litter, and debris
- Parking and storage of abandoned vehicles
- Parkway Landscaping Standards
- Unauthorized outdoor storage
- Other violations, including;
- Stagnant or poorly maintained swimming pools
- Unkempt yards and overgrown weeds
