The Glendale Fire Department was designated in 1997 by the State of California to be the Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA) for the City of Glendale. We have the responsibility to administer and enforce all six Program Elements of the Unified Program. The Unified Program consolidates the administration, permits, inspections, and enforcement activities of the following six programs:

Effective October 13, 2023, California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA) state oversight surcharge fee increase
- CalEPA has revised the state surcharge on all CUPA regulated businesses from $84 to $94 dollars. The increase includes $67 CUPA oversight charge and $27 CERS NextGen operation and maintenance.
- CalEPA has increased the state surcharge for the CalARP program component of the state surcharge from $270 to $370 per regulated business annually.

Reporting Abandoned Hazardous Materials Waste FOR LIFE-THREATENING EMERGENCIES, CALL 9-1-1 WITHOUT DELAY. For cases that are not life-threatening, and are related to abandonment of a hazardous materials (for example, paint, used oil), call the Fire Prevention Bureau at (818) 548-4810 and report your complaint.
