All underground storage tank (UST) systems in Glendale must be permitted by the Glendale Fire Department. In addition to the annual CUPA operating permits, a permit is also required to install, remove, modify or test (SB989) an UST system. A UST system includes the tank itself, the associated piping, the monitoring system, and related equipment. Since UST permits are specific to the individual tank, changes to the tank system usually requires a permit. Examples of such changes are replacing monitoring equipment, installing overfill protection, or adding secondary containment to the tank or piping.
Starting January 1, 2013 all CUPA regulated businesses are required by law (Assembly Bill 2286) to submit business information electronically through the California Environmental Reporting System (CERS). Many of the Unified Program forms are no longer available on our website and instead must be completed online in CERS. This includes information related to Underground Storage Tanks (UST), hazardous waste tank closures, and Aboveground Petroleum Storage Act (APSA) documentation.
INSTALLATION/REMOVAL/MODIFICATION
Before any work begins to install, remove or modify an UST system, a permit must be applied for at the City of Glendale Fire Prevention Bureau, Fire Engineering Unit. It is located at 633 E. Broadway St., Rm101, Glendale, CA 91206. The phone number is (818) 548-3200.

SECONDARY CONTAINMENT TESTING
Before any work begins to test the secondary containment of an UST systems provide a site plan and testing procedures to Fire Environmental Safety Specialist, Gevorg Nazaryan, gnazaryan@glendaleca.gov.
