GWP had developed and published the 2024 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), which analyzes Glendale's future energy needs and determines the most suitable resources to fulfill those needs, taking into account factors such as reliability, cost, constraints, environmental responsibility, efficiency, and risk.
The IRP is GWP's 20-year plan to continue providing reliable, affordable, and sustainable power for Glendale residents and businesses. It determines important factors about the future of Glendale's energy system, such as where Glendale gets its power, what its mix of renewable and clean energy will be, and how much it will cost to obtain and supply that energy mix. The IRP is prepared every five years and must be adopted by the City Council and submitted to the California Energy Commission (CEC).
